It is a permanent community within the floodplain of the lake, with an economy based in fishing and surrounded by flooded forest. From Kompong Khleang, you head out to the hidden jungle temple of Beng Mealea – the garland of the pond – east of Siem Reap (60 km – 1h20 drive).
